My husband and I recently stayed at Casa Santa Brigida, as recommended by Rick Steves. What a disaster!!! The area surrounding the building was covered with graffiti and the streets were filthy. We had booked in for seven nights. After three nights, we asked for a clean towel and some more soap. They gave us a clean towel, which we had to use for the next four nights but no soap (we had to use our own). The breakfast was a bowl of cornflakes and a stale roll and jam. On the second day, the roll was even staler and on the third day, we got nothing. We didn’t bother on the fourth and fifth days and on the seventh day, the sister in charge said they’d give us some coffee before the taxi arrived. No-one turned up. The price was 110 euros per night, which, considering we had to use our own soap and towles, was exhorbitant. These sisters do not have a clue about having visitors and I would suggest you do not recommend anyone staying there in the future.

I absolutely disagree with Ms.Chester’s review. 180% disagree….I am unhappy the prices have gone up..but my stay there was memorable..it was clean and the grafitti complaint is ridiculous….all over Europe and American we have a graffiti problem. the breakfasts were gigantic and with platters of meat….now, the sisters are not Italian and so there is no monkey business with them, but when all is said and done, it is one of my favorite Roman stops.
