We grabbed our rental car in Rome and drove to Cortona. We had dinner and some fantastic wine at our favorite restaurant, La Logetta.

We flew into Rome, checked into our hotel and headed to Campoleone to visit some my cousins and their family who we have not seen in over 20 years. We had a wonderful time highlighted by my cousin Lello’s excellent pizza cooked on his hand made pizza oven made by him and his Father. We also enjoyed olives from their garden and their own olive oil and wine. What a wonderful day!

We are in Rome today and heading back to the U.S. tomorrow. Here are a few final pics……
One fun happening from yesterday was when Gennaro, the owner of our favorite wine bar and restaurant brought over the wine maker of a favorite white wine of Campania (Falanghina). He also brought over a bottle of the wine and said “I have here the Falanghina grape, the wine and the wine maker.”
Yesterday, we visited with my cousin Massimo and his family at their home in Meta. They then drove us to Napoli for a tour of some of the places where my family lived. Good times…..

Grace, Sandy and Bill flew back home yesterday. My Mom and I are staying for another week. The only problem with Southern Italy in August is the heat and humidity. This year has been especially bad; reminds us of Atlanta. They haven’t had rain for 5 months. We are spending a lot of time in cafes and at the pool!

We celebrated Sandy’s birthday at one of our favorite restaurants in Sorrento, the Paruchianno.

We met 3 relatives for a wonderful 5 1/2 hour lunch yesterday. My Aunt Giovanna’s son, Massimo, was 3 years old the last time my Mother saw him. We had lunch with Massimo and his 2 children, Chiara and Matteo. They run a Bed and Breakfast called La Misma Luna in the nearby town of Meta.

We took our annual trip to the Isle of Capri. The crowds were even bigger than usual but we had a great time.

Yesterday we left Tuscany and stopped in Orvieto for lunch on the way to Rome where we dropped off Allison 😦 and headed on to beautiful Sorrento.
