Grace’s dentist recommended this restaurant in Venice.  He says it’s really good, casual and the locals eat there.  Near the Rialto Bridge.

Viva Venezia!

May 18, 2016

We arrived in Venice late last night and had a nice day today walking around the city. We also took a boat trip to Murano to check out the glass works. We are planning to have dinner tonight at our favorite restaurant in Venice, the Taverna San Trovaso.

Hail the Kompioen – Brugges!

May 16, 2016

Well Brugges won the championship by beating Brussels and the town went a bit crazy. Everyone met in the city center for a big celebration. We also went on a great walk to see the windmills on the out skirts of town and talked to some locals about a new game we had never seen before that some gentlemen were playing in the park – Viking Cup. Sort of a cross between Boce and Jenga. We wrapped things up with a great Fondue dinner. Good times!

On the rails to Brugges

May 15, 2016

Today we took the train to Brugges. I think half of Europe had the same idea as the city was over flowing; maybe just the usual scene on a Sunday or maybe it’s the fact that there is a big football match tomorrow, Brugges vs. arch rival Brussels. Oh and the king and queen of Belgium are coming tomorrow 🙂 Anyway, we had a nice day.

Prossimo Anno Sorrento

Let’s Walk

May 31, 2015

Yesterday we took one of long walks up into the hills above Sorrento. The views up close and off in the distance were spectacular!

Marina di Puolo

May 30, 2015

Yesterday, we took a long walk to a small fishing village called Puolo that the bar tender at the hotel, Antonio, told us about (his favorite fishing spot). The walk was through the Olive and Lemon groves.

Napoli

May 28, 2015

We spent yesterday in Napoli. We took the boat over which worked out very well. The port is right near Piazza Municipo so I could see about having my Dad’s watch repaired. They lubricated it and it worked for about an hour. The Watch man said that they could do a complete refurbish but couldn’t have it done by the time we go home. Maybe I’ll have that done next year or in the states. We then walked down to da Michele for a wonderful pizza and then took a cab up to the Vomero. We were disappointed that the Floridiana Park where my Mom had many great memories is mostly closed for restoration. We walked around the Vomero to the place my grand mother lived, the place where my family’s shoe store was and where my Dad’s favorite pastry shop, Mario Danielle used to be. Many great memories, especially for Mom.

A trip back in time – Pompeii

May 27, 2015

We visited the always fascinating Pompeii yesterday. They have excavated more of the ruins since we were last there. Such an amazing place!
