There & Back Again – A Traveler's Tale

We took the ferry over to Bellagio for the day, had lunch in a cafe on the water and then wrapped up the day with dinner at a new place in Menaggio; La Grolla on a beautiful Terrace overlooking the Lake.

We arrived in Milano and picked up our extra large vehicle; a Fiat Ducato. Bill drove us to Varenna and then we took the Ferry across to Menaggio. The Grand Hotel is very nice and Menaggio welcomed us with a nice fireworks display! The city is packed with Italian vacationers but we were able to get dinner at a new restaurant; La Conca. We were surprised to see an old friend in our waiter. Years ago he worked at another favorite restaurant of ours.

We flew into Zurich and enjoyed our first day trying to stay awake, eating bratwurst, fondue and chocolate. Today we are on the train to Milano then on to Lake Como.

We wrapped up our trip to Sorrento with a visit to our old standard, the Parrucchiano. My family has been coming to this wonderful restaurant for over 50 years. Not only is the food wonderful but the setting is amazing as you done in a Sorrento garden. Then on Friday we headed back to Brussels for the flight home on Saturday :-(😭

We had another fun visit to the Isle of Capri. It was a bit crowded but still a lot of fun. We had a Pizza in the main Piazza in Anacapri then ride the chairlift to the top of the island for some amazing views! We then ended our day with another great meal at San Antonino. Bill and I made the journey up to the top of Mount Vesuvius for a viewing of the crater and amazing views of Naples and the Amalfi coast. It is quite a hike but worth it!

We stopped in Frascati for a nice meal at Cacciani then headed down to Sorrento. Not much has changed here – still the most beautiful view in the world!
