Yesterday we took one of long walks up into the hills above Sorrento. The views up close and off in the distance were spectacular!

May 30, 2015Nobleman’s Bath and the long goodbye
May 29, 2015We walked to the Nobleman’s bath yesterday. This is the amazing Roman ruin of a Nobleman’s palace and his adjoining natural “bath” created by a natural land formation. It’s also a great walk! We then had a late lunch and wrapped up shopping in anticipation of Bill, Sandy, Susan and Grace heading home. 😦
I bought some pens made of wood by one of the inlaid wood artisans of Sorrento. This man has been making these beautiful wood objects for 60 years! We met his son, Salvation, one of the next generation of artisans. I’m very happy to see this tradition carry on!
Napoli
May 28, 2015We spent yesterday in Napoli. We took the boat over which worked out very well. The port is right near Piazza Municipo so I could see about having my Dad’s watch repaired. They lubricated it and it worked for about an hour. The Watch man said that they could do a complete refurbish but couldn’t have it done by the time we go home. Maybe I’ll have that done next year or in the states. We then walked down to da Michele for a wonderful pizza and then took a cab up to the Vomero. We were disappointed that the Floridiana Park where my Mom had many great memories is mostly closed for restoration. We walked around the Vomero to the place my grand mother lived, the place where my family’s shoe store was and where my Dad’s favorite pastry shop, Mario Danielle used to be. Many great memories, especially for Mom.
